LOCATIONS & TEAMS
FC honeyee.com
Aiming to decide the tournament through outstanding, tournament-level defensive soccer.
The web magazine honeyee.com has offered valuable lifestyle information for sensitive city dwellers, and now they're finally participating in the adiCup!
The team members are primarily from honeyee.com's editorial department. It has a lot of sporty people, so many that one would never guess the team seeks to foster an intellectual, cultured environment. But they can't deny that they were hastily assembled for this tournament, and there have been a string of injuries during practice – even to the point of ruptured Achilles tendons.
Out of these unpleasant circumstances, where those members couldn't be kept on the roster, for the moment they have succeeded in establishing a style of play which could be considered complete. At the recent Champions League semifinals, they relied entirely on a style of counter soccer based on the strong defense they practiced. Their nearly utter lack of attack and competitive defense can be called nothing less than Tokyo Catenaccio.
Their star player is the 186 cm tall, ultra aggressive forward, Firas Yama. Contrary to expectations of only being good for post play, his speed and light footwork are also first rate. There's also Naoki Otobe, the guardian deity who keeps the goal locked up tight.
He has an impressive record of blocking over 90% of front on shots. Incidentally, it remains undecided whether or not editor-in-chief Tetsuya Suzuki will attend on tournament day. His Coach Mourinho-esque baton is a sight to see.
Honeyee.com wasn't able to assemble a team with every last fixed member, but they seek to establish the style of soccer they aim for by coming here. Their zone defense, with its sprinting to the point of running out of breath, has clear value at a glance. Perhaps they might go for total team defense right after kickoff? They can also decide to link up with "that" backup. Can they even exert political pressure to make referees blow whistles in their favor!? There's no need for beautiful soccer, nor is it necessary to run plays that stick out in people's memories. They want to stoically defend and raise a "giant killing" from an upper status team.
